Fellow HOMM3 players, I bring you Pony’s RMG. A fast pace, bruiser of a match. A random map template designed for an 8 player FFA on a medium map 200% difficulty. Computers are put in empty slots. Pony’s RMG was developed because the standard random map generators made an even 8 player medium FFA nearly impossible. Many templates do not allow for medium maps to have 8 players, for obvious reason. The few that do are pure random. Someone will always start at a disadvantage, unguarded artifacts, Clumped up buildings, blocked paths ect. Not that this is not an enjoyable experience, but we wanted a more even playing field. Pony’s RMG has made the medium map randomization more equal in terms of starting positions, pace at which the game develops, resource distribution, artifacts, less impossibly blocked paths and overall fairness. One could play Pony’s RMG on larger scale map, perhaps with water. Unfortunately random map generators does not work well when water is added. The oceans are void of pick up items and dwellings. Therefore the map would need to be edited to have more zones for a larger map to be interesting. My friends and I enjoy fast the pace of a medium match. From beginning to end it is action, full spectrum HOMM3 not just AFK farming neutrals.
Pony’s RMG has gone through various updates and changes. Most recently we added all the extra heroes. There was a situation where 2/3 of the teams were one faction. Leading to a limited hero selection. In context, we play all random, except our initial hero is picked. Some people might argue that adding all the hero’s is unfair, but a player cannot pick one of the extra hero’s as a starting hero. Unless, they chose to randomize their hero selection. Then they are playing the odds. Just as much of a chance to get Malcom as Gelu. This map will continue to go through updates as HOTA updates. We all look forward to the release of the Factory faction. HOTA has done a fantastic job keeping HOMM3 alive. Making it easier to play and bringing us new content. Thank you HOTA team.
